Classical and operant conditionning review worksheet

Part I : Identify the unconditionned stimulus, unconditionned response, conditionned stimulus, and conditionned response in the following :

Unconditionned Stimulus : A stimulus that elicits and unlearned response.
Unconditionned Response : An unlearned reaction that happens naturally because of an unconditionned stimulus.
Neutral Stimulus : A stimulus which iniatially produces no specific response other than focusing attention.
Conditionned Stimulus : A stimulus to which an organism has learned to make a response.
Conditionned Response : A new or modified response elicited by a stimulus after conditionning.

1) When Susie was four years old, she was visiting her Grandma when a loud fire alarm sounded. For the next year, Susan cried whenever she visited her Grandma.

Part II : For each of the following examples indicate whether positive/negative reinforcement or punishment is being used.

Positive Reinforcement : something is added, it renforces the behavior. Ex : do a good job at work and receive a cash bonus.

Negative Reinforcement : something bad is avoied by doing something. Ex : put on sunscreen and avoid traffic.

Positive punishment : something is given to reduce/stop a behavior. Ex : drive too fast, and receive a ticket.

Negative punishment : something good is taken away due to bahavior try to stop/reduce bahavior. Ex : 2 childrens fight over a toy and toy taken over.

1) You are trying to house break your dog. You catch him defecating on you floor and you whack him with a newspaper.

2) For publishing articles and teaching well, profesors may receive tenure, promotion, and an increase in pay.

3) A mother continues to nag and yell at her daugther until she begins to pick up all the clothes she left aroud the house.
